Overview
IMGLAB YouTube Immersive (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that transforms YouTube into a distraction-free viewing environment — hiding UI clutter, enforcing theater mode, auto-setting video quality, and providing zoom, rotation, and screenshot tools for an immersive viewing experience.
This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
The short version: we collect nothing. All processing happens locally on your device.
Data We Do NOT Collect
The Extension does not collect, transmit, store, or share any of the following:
- Browsing history or URLs you visit
- Video content you watch
- Personal information of any kind
- Usage statistics or analytics
- Crash reports or error logs
- Cookies or tracking identifiers
We have no servers that receive data from this Extension. There is no backend, no database, and no analytics service connected to this Extension.
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The Extension stores the following settings locally on your device using Chrome’s built-in chrome.storage.sync API:
- Immersive mode enabled/disabled preference
- Preferred video quality setting
- Hide options (live chat, endscreen cards, comments and sidebar)
- Keyboard shortcut configuration (immersive toggle, rotate, screenshot)
- Player button visibility preferences (zoom, rotate, screenshot buttons)
- Screenshot options (apply rotation, apply zoom crop)
These settings are synced across your Chrome browsers if you are signed into Chrome. They are never transmitted to us or any third party. You can delete them at any time by removing the Extension.
Permissions Used and Why
storage Used to save and load your extension settings using Chrome’s built-in sync storage. Data stays on your device and within Chrome’s own infrastructure. No personal data is stored — only extension preferences.
host_permissions: *://*.youtube.com/* Required because the Extension operates exclusively on YouTube to modify page layout — hiding the navbar, live chat, comments, and endscreen elements, enforcing theater mode, and injecting rotate, zoom, and screenshot buttons into the player controls. The Extension does not read, record, or transmit any page content or video data.
Third-Party Services
The Extension does not integrate with, connect to, or share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.
The Extension’s popup contains links to voluntary donation pages (Ko-fi and Buy Me a Coffee). These are standard hyperlinks that open in a new browser tab. Clicking them is entirely optional. Your use of those third-party websites is governed by their own privacy policies, which are independent of this Extension.
The Extension loads DM Sans and DM Mono fonts from Google Fonts for the popup interface. This is a standard CSS font import. No extension data is transmitted as part of this request.
Children’s Privacy
This Extension does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. As stated above, the Extension collects no data whatsoever.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
